Meeting in Daranak CRC


ANU meeting in Daranak CRCThis year the Armenian National Union of YMCAs initiated a series of trainings for local YMCAs’ leadership and program developers in the frames of the World Service Grant for ANU YMCA Movement development.

For this reason on September 23-26 Daranak CRC hosted 4-5 participants from each local YMCA of Armenia as well as 3 guests from Artsakh YMCA. Vanadzor YMCA 2 Norwegian volunteers joined the training too.

The training consisted of 2 parts. The first part was training on leadership based on the world-famous psychologist Stephen R. Covey’s theory of “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” held by the ANU ex-CEO Armen Bezhanyan.

The second part of the training was run by the ANU Y Program Development Manager Hasmik Chakhalyan and it was the follow-up of project design management training the first phase of which took place on July 13-16 in Aramian campsite on Project Design Management. There were 3 representatives from each local YMCA. Our young leaders Kima Ghukasyan, Hrach Baghramyan and Anahit Ohanyan represented Spitak YMCA then.

In conclusion the Armenian National Union of YMCAs announced a grant for a joint project developed by at least 3 of the local YMCAs with the precondition that the project is 100% co-financed by another donor. So at the end of the training a working group was formed to continue working on the grant project proposal.

Besides during the training EAY Regional Secretary Vardan Hambardzumyan held a session on EAY work, particularly he spoke about the next YMCA Festival in Prague in 2013 as well as the future of the EAY Roots for Reconciliation project which is going to be continued.

Apart from the leadership training there was a meeting of CEOs of local YMCAs and the national YMCA. The CEO of Artsakh YMCA, the EAY Regional Secretary Vardan Hambardzumyan and the ANU ex-CEO Armen Bezhanyan took part in the meeting too. Questions concerning YMCA movement in Armenia and Artsakh as well as ideas for further strategic developments and projects were subject of discussion during the meeting.
